Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing and energising treatment combining point release, deep massage and stretches. It eases aching muscles, increases vitality and relieves fatigue. With its roots in traditional Chinese medicine, shiatsu aims to promote the flow of vital energy (also known as chi) and facilitate healing. According to the principles of traditional medicine, blockages in the flow of energy can contribute to a wide range of illnesses. Shiatsu is done in a traditional Japanese room on a futon with the earthy scent of the tatami mats encouraging deep relaxation. No massage oil is used so you will need to wear loose or stretchy, comfortable clothing. It is the perfect complement to your stay at a traditional Japanese inn.
Our shiatsu therapists are qualified to treat pregnant women.
Important for duo bookings: Shiatsu is performed in our dedicated tatami room, while Aromatherapy, Deep Tissue and other oil-based massages are performed in separate treatment rooms. If you and your companion select Shiatsu and an oil-based massage, your treatments will take place at the same time but in separate rooms.
